Chondroitin Sulfate for osteoarthritis?

Does Chondroitin Sulfate work to relieve arthritis symptoms?

Millions of Americans suffer from the debilitating symptoms of osteoarthritis.  To relieve their suffering and to promote joint health, many have turned to alternative therapies including dietary supplements.

Based on the current available evidence, for those that are spending their money on chondroitin sulfate, are they wasting their money?
"Large-scale, methodologically sound trials indicate that the symptomatic benefit of chondroitin is minimal or nonexistent. Use of chondroitin in routine clinical practice should therefore be discouraged"(Reichenbach et al, 2007).

According to the results of this recent publication in the medical journal, Annals of Internal Medicine, people who take dietary supplements which include chondroitin sulfate may be wasting their time and their money on these products.
